Hiring a general contractor is a safe move with us.
Searching for a general contractor in Tucson can feel overwhelming. Everyone says they do everything. Few explain how they manage it.
We act as your advocate by protecting your home, your budget, and your peace of mind with a disciplined process.
What a residential general contractor actually does.
A general contractor is responsible for the outcome of the entire project, not just one trade.
As a licensed B-3 residential general contractor in Arizona, we coordinate and manage projects that involve two or more trades.
That includes:
Kitchen remodeling
Bathroom remodeling
Whole-home remodeling
Interior reconfiguration
Flooring throughout the home
Electrical and plumbing coordination
Permit management when required
Inspection scheduling
Trade sequencing
Jobsite oversight and protection
We don’t just “hire subs.” We manage scope, accountability, timing, and quality.
Our process for general contracting in Tucson.
-
We start with an in-home consult to understand your goals, take measurements, talk rough numbers, and most importantly, discover whether we are a great fit for the project.
P.S. even if we are not a great fit, we likely know someone who is, and would be happy to refer you. -
We turn your ideas into a build-ready plan. We confirm material selections (with our team or alongside your interior designer), then map the planning and permit path needed to move forward.
Next, we build a highly transparent, line-item scope and a guaranteed-max proposal for the defined scope. We walk you through it so you know exactly what’s included, what it costs, and what comes next.
-
After signing the proposal, before we start construction, we collect the initial deposit, set the calendar in stone, and get materials on hand.
-
We protect the home, manage subs and inspections, do milestone reviews, provide daily updates, give you a client portal where you can track everything, and use written change orders only.
P.S. if change orders are related to anything that we missed in our initial scope, that’s billed at-cost to you. If it truly involves new scope, we will go through the estimating process again. -
We like to finish strong. To close out the project we complete an internal punch list, client punch list, deep clean with pro cleaners, final walkthrough, then your final invoice. To cap this all off, we also complete a one-year check-in with The Steward’s Promise.
Our role as your general contractor.
When you hire Good Steward as your general contractor, you are not hiring six different companies. You are hiring one accountable team to manage the entire process.
We coordinate:
Licensed plumbers
Licensed electricians
Tile installers
Flooring installers
Cabinet installers
Finish carpenters
Painters
Specialty trades as needed
Instead of you managing multiple schedules and contracts, you have one clear agreement and one communication channel.
How we work to keep change orders fair.
Change orders aren’t the enemy. Unclear change orders are.
Our rule is simple:
If it’s something not in the scope that we should have foreseen based on the information available when we scoped the project, we handle it at cost, no additional markup.
If it’s outside the agreed scope because the project changed (new request, upgraded selections, added work, layout changes), we re-bid that work with the same clarity as the original proposal: clear scope, clear pricing, and written approval before we proceed.
That’s part of being a good steward.
General Contractor FAQs for Tucson homeowners.

A general contractor manages projects involving multiple licensed trades and often permits and inspections. A handyman typically performs smaller, single-trade tasks.
-
Most work is completed by licensed trade partners we coordinate and manage. When we self-perform, that portion is billed hourly and clearly identified.
-
If multiple trades are involved or permits may be required, having one accountable GC reduces risk and miscommunication.
